Customer Feedback

I needed my address changed to somewhere else and the seller went above and beyond to help me out. I love my new necklace and the pipe works perfectly. It looks just like the picture and was obviously made with love. I'm so happy to add this to my collection of glass pieces. Thanks guys!

The PsySub People

Psychedelic Sub-Culture, or PsySub for short is a small independent jewelry fully run and owned by Jessie Matheny. The goal of PsySub design is to both support personal happiness by helping  live  life the way which is enjoyable, cultivating creativity with everything that is made. We also want to spread happiness to customers by creating self expressionist pieces of jewelry that make you feel good about your individuality.

Jessie Matheny has been designing various types of jewelry for over 18 years. She has been specializing in hemp jewelry for about 12 years. Living and growing up in Montana, she spent her days learning every type of craft from painting to sculpting, beading and sewing. Soon after moving to a more cultured northern California, she discovered that many young people made money by selling their jewelry in the busy summers. Noticing that many of them were making hemp jewelry, she was inspired. However, she noticed a lack of differing styles in the hemp jewelry around here, even in stores. Her goal quickly became to make hemp jewelry in many different colors, styles and genres. Especially for the counter culture.  She then began vending her original designs on the Santa Cruz boardwalk in the summertime, and has been doing so since 2001. She still continues this creative sharing every year.
Jessie moved back to Montana for a short time in 2005.  She had always felt held back by an inability to expand her business.  Unfortunately, she found that she was limited by the lack of culture around her. Soon enough, she would decide to follow her dreams and move  to California, where she could share their art with various genres of sub-culture people and traveling tourists from around the world. Horray!
For almost 13 years now, PsySub has been selling and trading jewelry on online forums, Etsy, and at various club venues in the Bay Area. Over 7000 Etsy Sales and counting!
I take my crafting very seriously, paying close attention to detail and spending hours coming up with the best designs before making my final creations. I use only the best in high quality materials, and guarantee all of our products durability, but if there were ever to be any problems I would fix it at no extra cost to the customer. I am extremely happy to be able to share my designs with the world; and very appreciative that people are willing to support my business by not only purchasing items, but also by inspiring me with comments and new ideas that keep my creative juices flowing. PsySub is about helping cultivate the creativity and individuality in everyone, and I hope by showing everybody the potential of art I can inspire other people as well. Big thanks to everyone who has been a supporter of PsySub for helping me have a job that i truly love!
Several years ago, I had been looking around at the designs people were coming up with, and although I was inspired and always appreciative of their artistic talents, I realized that something was missing. With something as versatile and ecologically sound as hemp, it doesn't make sense to only appeal to one genre of style.
I have given handmade hemp jewelry a whole new twist with bright colors, tie dyed hemp, rainbow hemp, and black hemp in many different combination of both elegant and stylish knot patterns creating hemp necklaces, hemp chokers, hemp anklets, hemp bracelets and even hemp barefoot sandals in a whole new light.
The only personal style that I like to portray in each piece is the need for expression of individuality. I have been inspired throughout the years by the more rebellious genres that have both created social change and great artistically expressive style. I have created hemp jewelry for styles of fashion like gothic, punk, fantasy, rave, retro, and hippie; and often even fused some of these styles together for something new and inventive.
I also like to create pieces of jewelry that when worn can express a belief or idea that the person might have. Along with the need to use more renewable resources, I've noticed that many health and earth conscious people also share the older and wiser of holistic spiritual practices.
